Major southern utility company Duke Energy Corp. is the latest energy giant to face new climate litigation over alleged deception centered around fossil fuel contributions to global warming.
The Town of Carrboro, N.C., filed a complaint on Wednesday at the Orange County Superior Court in Hillsborough. Carrboro joins Multnomah County in Oregon—which added regional gas provider NW Natural to its 2023 multibillion-dollar lawsuit—in suing utility companies for climate damages.
